Pranayama Module Project
Module 3 Project: Pranayama & Balanced Breathing
Note: The following instructions apply to students completing the Meditation Teacher Training in the self-paced format. If you are taking this training in the live online format, this material will be presented live in class, and there is no need to complete or post this project below.
This project builds directly on the skills you developed in the previous module. You’ll again practice introducing material clearly, teaching to camera, and guiding a short practice—this time with a focus on pranayama and balanced breathing.
As before, imagine you are speaking to students who are new to these concepts.
Project Overview
You will complete:
– A 500-word written introduction
– A recorded teaching and guided pranayama practice
– A single post that includes both your essay and video link
– A direct email to your instructors
Step 1: Write a 500-Word Essay
Review the pranayama material from this module, with particular attention to the principles of balanced breathing.
Write a 500-word essay that:
– Introduces pranayama as a concept
– Explains its role in regulating the nervous system and cultivating balance
– Is accessible to students who may be new to breathwork
As in the previous project, 500 words corresponds to approximately five minutes of spoken teaching.
Post your completed essay in the comments section below. This essay will serve as the foundation for your video presentation.
Step 2: Record Your Teaching and Pranayama Practice
Using your essay as your guide, record a single continuous video.
Begin with a five-minute spoken introduction, where you:
– Introduce pranayama as a practice
– Optionally name and briefly explain the specific pranayama you’ll be teaching
Then, without stopping the recording, transition directly into teaching the pranayama practice itself for approximately five to ten minutes.
If you’d like, you’re welcome to conclude the practice with a brief period of stillness, as a natural callback to the previous module.
Your final video should be approximately 10–15 minutes total and include:
– A short teaching
– A guided pranayama practice (with optional stillness at the end)
Step 3: Upload and Share
Upload your video to YouTube and copy the URL.
In the same comment where you post your essay, include:
– Your 500-word essay
– The YouTube link to your video
You can refer back to the previous module for step-by-step instructions on uploading to YouTube and using Marco Polo.
Step 4: Email Your Instructors
In addition to posting your work here, you are responsible for directly emailing your instructors the same information.
Please send an email that includes:
– Your 500-word essay
– The YouTube URL for your video
Email both instructors at:
– konalaniyoga@gmail.com
– jatila@eldoradoyoga.org
Your instructors will review your essay and video and provide personalized feedback via Marco Polo.
If any questions come up as you work through this assignment, feel free to reach out to us at konalaniyoga@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing how you introduce and embody the practice of pranayama.
